Our collection of clinical, environmental, and animal yeast strains includes various ascomycete and basidiomycete genera, such as Candida, Geotrichum, Saprochaete, Cryptococcus, Trichosporon, Malassezia…
The CIP is one of the oldest microbial biobanks worldwide. It includes more than 2 000 fungal strains from more than 150 genera of filamentous fungi and 25 genera of yeasts. Collaborations with scientists from the Institut Pasteur and deposits of strains by French and international scientists contribute to the continuing growth of the collection. The CIP ensures the distribution of fungal strains and associated data (data on properties, preservation conditions, identification).
The CFIP is back in operation. Over 2 000 well-characterized yeasts and filamentous fungi are included and yet more to come. Most of our historical strains, isolated prior to the discovery of triazole compounds, are of clinical origin, although veterinary and environmental strains are also available. Fungal taxonomy is continuously being revised and we are performing ongoing work to ensure up to date taxonomical assignments.

The distribution of fungal strains is intended for public or private research institutions and educational institutions that are equiped with laboratory facilities adapted to the handling of the requested strains.
The strains are distributed for scientific use under General Terms and Conditions of Use, in compliance with our internal Charter and with national and international standards and regulations.
How to place an order for fungal strains at CIP?
The CIP will reply to your request of CIP strains upon reception of the list of requested strains and the filled “Customer account form" (links below). With this information, the CIP will prepare an MTA, alias CGU “General Terms and Conditions of Use”. The CGU, with the prices for the strains including shipment fees indicated in Euro, will be sent to you to be signed by the responsible scientist and the institution in which she/he works. The order will be processed only if the CGU is properly signed.
In addition, we will also need a corresponding formal Purchase Order from your institution; please ask for it from your administrative department.
