Reliable biological resources play a pivotal role in advancing scientific discoveries.

Our commitment to the scientific community involves providing fit-for-purpose biological products, validated processes, and associated services. These resources are used in research and quality control and enable developments in fundamental science, drug discovery, diagnostics, translational medicine, and public health.

Our expertise

Processing and characterization of microbial and human specimens. The CRBIP offers a unique combination of expertise and services encompassing both microbial and human biospecimens. Microbial strains may be derivatives of human specimens or ad hoc deposits.

  • Bacterial genomic taxonomy
  • Fungal taxonomy
  • Biospecimen science
  • Validation of processing methods
  • Quality Control materials
  • Bioinformatic tools
  • Taxonomy platform

Whole genome sequencing, either short read, or long read for taxonomic identification. We extract DNA from isolated strains and subcontract Illumina paired end sequencing either to internal sequencing platforms or to external ISO17025 accredited sequencing laboratories. Long read sequencing is performed in our laboratories.

Services

We offer wet and dry lab services for different types of biological resources.

(i) acquisition of deposits of microbiological materials, including new species, (ii) strain culture and isolation in pure format, (iii) strain lyophilization, (iv) reception and processing of human fluid biological materials, (v) genotypic, phenotypic and functional characterization of the biological materials, (vi) preservation and distribution of microbial and human bioresources.

Research

Our strategy is geared towards quality and the fitness for purpose of the biological resources. Hence, our scientific focus is on biospecimen and genomic taxonomy research.

By providing access to fit for purpose bioresources, we contribute to the advancement of biological sciences through innovative and interdisciplinary research projects, development of cutting-edge tools, and international partnerships.
